I created this blog when my sweet little girl, Kristen, was diagnosed with cancer, for the third time. After fighting for almost 3 years Kristen was called home to that same God who gave her life. One of my favorite quotes comes from Neal A. Maxwell- "Those who "plow in hope" not only understand the law of the harvest but they also understand what growing seasons are all about. True, those with genuine hope may see their proximate circumstances shaken like a kaleidoscope at times, yet with the "Eye of faith" they still see divine design." Kristen blessed lives and continues to do so. Her light continues to shine. As for me, I continue to "plow in hope" knowing well that Kristen is mine for eternity. Families can be together forever!

a little more Halloween

We had our Halloween feast yesterday.
Complete with sloppy joe's and all the fixins.
We really love to celebrate.

I only get a few trick-or-treaters, so I make it fun for those who do come.
What could be better than an extra large symphony bar?
Especially when you melt it and dip your bananas and strawberries in it.

I went to the cemetery tonight and left a pumpkin and some
lights for Kristen and my parents.
As we were leaving I turned and took one more picture.
I told Richard that this is the 7th year in a row that we have come to the
cemetery on Halloween.
I also said we would be coming every Halloween for the rest of our lives.
Kristen loved Halloween.

Here is the little princess on her final Halloween here on earth.
A beautiful princess she was and still is.

Happy Halloween

Grandma and Grandpa's annual
 Halloween party was tonight.
This party has been taking place
for nearly 40 years.
Tonight didn't disappoint.

As for me...
this sounds about right.

Happy Halloween!

birthday fun

We love birthdays!
The little man turned 1 yesterday
and the little girl turned 4 today.
We have been partying for 2 days and counting.

When it was time for them to pack up and go home Nora was hiding under
the coffee table.
I asked her what was wrong and she replied,
"Grandma Polly, I just love you too much."
Right back at you little one, right back at you.
Happy Birthday

  1. 1.
    come together; assemble or accumulate.

  1. 1.
an assembly or meeting, especially a social or festive one or one held for a specific purpose.

Each Sunday we do just that.
We gather.
It's quite the gathering.
25 in all.
We celebrate a new week as we gather family for a Sunday roast.
The aromas of our favorite foods permeate the home and
our hearts with warmth.
We are then ready to begin another week.
One of our favorite food trucks is Waffle Love.
Their waffles are to die for.
3 times a year they sell their dough so you can go home and make your own.
This is one of our favorite gathering meals.

We cut these waffle dough balls in half and cook them in the waffle maker.

We then dress them with lots of cream and berries.
best. waffle. ever.

During the first week in October it is time to gather the pumpkins.
The children always look forward to this.
Our pumpkin crop was a bit small but still so much fun.

Oops! We had a little trouble getting up the hill

I went back to Ephraim yesterday.
Kim and I decided to drive up the canyon to see the fall leaves.
We were especially looking for the quaking aspen.
They didn't disappoint, however the car did.
We pulled off to take some pictures and we couldn't get the car to go into reverse.
We sat for quite a time wondering what to do.
If we rolled forward we would roll into the ditch.
Finally we flagged down some guys on four wheelers to help us.
We were soon on our way.
Of course I had to drive by the home that belonged to my
great grandparents to see  how it looked in the fall.

Make your home a gathering place.
