I created this blog when my sweet little girl, Kristen, was diagnosed with cancer, for the third time. After fighting for almost 3 years Kristen was called home to that same God who gave her life. One of my favorite quotes comes from Neal A. Maxwell- "Those who "plow in hope" not only understand the law of the harvest but they also understand what growing seasons are all about. True, those with genuine hope may see their proximate circumstances shaken like a kaleidoscope at times, yet with the "Eye of faith" they still see divine design." Kristen blessed lives and continues to do so. Her light continues to shine. As for me, I continue to "plow in hope" knowing well that Kristen is mine for eternity. Families can be together forever!

a birthday party

"Rejoice with your family in the beautiful land of life!”
 -Albert Einstein

It's rather apparent that we like to party.
The gathering of family and friends is what we do best.
Becky, who is Richards oldest sister, turned 60.
So of course we had to party.
A few things about Becky...
She is stronger than she thinks she is.
She is very kind.
She loves her garden.
Ryan said she has the best raspberry patch he has ever seen.
She is soft spoken.
She is a hard worker.
She loves her family.
She is one of Kristen's biggest fans.
One more thing,
She is the one who quietly lights lanterns of love which illuminate
the path for others.

I was asked to make the cake for her birthday.
It was important that the cake hold 60 candles.
I had this vision for the candle cake and it turned out just like I had hoped.

This is Kristen in 1990 when she was diagnosed with leukemia the first time.
Kristen is wearing adorable pink pajamas that Becky made for her.

Happy Birthday to one of our favorites.
