I created this blog when my sweet little girl, Kristen, was diagnosed with cancer, for the third time. After fighting for almost 3 years Kristen was called home to that same God who gave her life. One of my favorite quotes comes from Neal A. Maxwell- "Those who "plow in hope" not only understand the law of the harvest but they also understand what growing seasons are all about. True, those with genuine hope may see their proximate circumstances shaken like a kaleidoscope at times, yet with the "Eye of faith" they still see divine design." Kristen blessed lives and continues to do so. Her light continues to shine. As for me, I continue to "plow in hope" knowing well that Kristen is mine for eternity. Families can be together forever!

50's party

Each year at the lake Richard's sisters plan a themed party at the beach.
This year the theme was 50's Diner.
Not many of us dressed up this year but it was still tons of fun.
There is just something about partying at the beach.
There is music coming from one of the boats and everyone pitches in
and brings a side dish.

Carrie and Becky are the party planners and they are always dressed up so cute.

Rodney was the cook, we had hamburgers, homemade fries and root beer floats.

Ty and grandpa

“We should not need a hurricane or other crisis to remind us of what matters most.
The gospel and the Lord’s plan of happiness and salvation should remind us.
What matters most is what lasts longest, and our families are for eternity.”

day of hope prayer flag project

August 19th – Day of Hope Prayer Flag Project is a profoundly moving, poignant and healing event that was created to help inspire people who have experienced the death of a child to create meaning amongst their grief. Not only is this project an incredibly touching way to honor these children’s lives, it also helps to break the silence surrounding the death of babies and children. Each year there are thousands of people taking part across the globe,
making this a truly inspiring event.

This past week as we vacationed at Half Moon Lake I
made a prayer flag for Kristen. I photographed it hanging near the lake that Kristen loved. It truly brought me joy to sit for a minute and
create something to honor her.

You can read more about the day of hope by clicking here

Each year I also paint Kristen a rock.

Sacred Rim

We spent the past week with family at the annual
Half Moon Lake camp-out in Pinedale, Wyoming.
This marks the 36 consecutive year for me.
Richard's family has been going since he was a small child.
I would have to guess it's close to 50 years.
This year was the first year I have hiked to Sacred Rim.
A few have taken the hike before but it is a fairly new activity.
The hike in took close to an hour.
Coming out was closer to to 45 minutes.

The Wind River Range pierces the sky. From the Sacred Rim overlook,
the view is stunning. I could never capture the beauty.
If you ever have the chance you should surely take the hike.

a thought for today...
