I created this blog when my sweet little girl, Kristen, was diagnosed with cancer, for the third time. After fighting for almost 3 years Kristen was called home to that same God who gave her life. One of my favorite quotes comes from Neal A. Maxwell- "Those who "plow in hope" not only understand the law of the harvest but they also understand what growing seasons are all about. True, those with genuine hope may see their proximate circumstances shaken like a kaleidoscope at times, yet with the "Eye of faith" they still see divine design." Kristen blessed lives and continues to do so. Her light continues to shine. As for me, I continue to "plow in hope" knowing well that Kristen is mine for eternity. Families can be together forever!

our beloved angel

5 years seems like such a long time.
It is a long time.
1826 days to be exact.
I miss the laughter that filled our home
I miss her smile that could light up a room
I miss her hugs
I just plain miss her.

Although I miss Kristen every single day,
I'm 5 years closer to holding that little angel in
my arms again.

Today happens to be National Lollipop Day.
In honor of Kristen have yourself a lollipop.
Seriously, pick one up at the store and enjoy.
Think of her and the simple yet joyful life she lived.
Enjoy and love life.

another birthday

This little princess turned 5 today.
She loves make-up, dress-up, and sparkly things.
She makes us all laugh.

Her older sister asked grandpa to make a table and chairs that
she could give her for her birthday.
I think it was a hit.

Tomorrow the girls will paint it pink!

Someone is adding a new addition or two to their little family.
First a new puppy named May,
and a little someone will be arriving in February.
We can't wait!

Grandpa added a new zip line to the yard.
The kids and even the grown ups are having a blast.

birthday fun

~Dr. Seuss

This week has been loaded with birthday fun,
and we aren't finished yet.
I don't think it is a coincidence that 3 of my grandchildren
have arrived this week, the week Kristen returned to heaven.
I believe it is a tender mercy.
As we approach the day of Kristen's passing we
celebrate life.
Her life and the life of these precious children.
We continue to feel the influence of Kristen daily.
We know she is close and at times enjoying the same
celebrations as us.
With the recent passing of my mother, we still find ourselves
reaching for the phone to call her.
She was such a huge part of our lives.
We know that she too is near.

This little one turned 4.
She loves Minnie Mouse and dresses and purses.
She is a little sweetheart!

Yes, that's a Betsey Johnson handbag.

The very next day this little guy celebrated his first birthday.
We took him to lunch, really we took ourselves to lunch.
He's been walking for about a month and has two cute teeth.
He is a complete joy!

more to come...

God bless the USA

The Fourth of July is one of my most favorite days of the year.
We celebrated just as John Adams hoped we would over 200 years ago.

" I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as
the great anniversary festival.
It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance,
by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty.
It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports,
guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations,
from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more."
~John Adams
