I wasn't looking forward to Mother's Day.
My first without my mom.
Several times as I was shopping for gifts I thought,
"Oh my mom would love this."
Instead of buying a gift for my mom I bought gifts for
my daughters, my sisters and my mothers friend.
When we dressed my mom for her burial we purchased
some precious white slippers with embroidery and beads for her.
I decided it would be special to buy a pair of these same slippers for the girls.
They really loved them!
Rich and I went to the cemetery early in the morning to leave some
flowers for my mom. It was a beautiful peaceful morning.
My heart felt peaceful. As I got back into the car a song was playing.
The song was "Oh My Father."
"When I leave this frail existence, when I lay this mortal by,
Father, Mother may I meet you in your royal courts on high?
Then, at length, when I've completed, All you sent me forth to do,
With your mutual approbation, Let me come and dwell with you."
My heart was full with joy and happiness for my mother.
I'd like to offer a little advice to those who happen to know someone whose
mother recently passed away and it happens to be Mother's Day.
First off, I think of and miss my mom every single day.
I missed her and thought of her just as much today and I did on Mother's Day.
Second, It would be better to say something than to ignore and say nothing.
If you don't know what to say then how about say,
"I've been thinking about you today."
A HUG and "Happy Mother's Day!" would be nice.
And I'm not a hugging person!
My daughter had pneumonia on Mother's day.
She has 5 children including a busy 10 month old cute little boy.
After leaving the cemetery I went to her home to see what I could do to help.
I thought I could make breakfast, but Brooke beat me to it.
Later I met my brother at the cemetery.
Again we found it peaceful. This time I was greeted by ducks,
geese and even some gosling.
My mom loved birds.
My mother's roses are in full bloom.
Now I just have to figure out how to get a start of that bush for my house.
My niece told her 4 year old son to grab her a coke out of the cooler at the store.
He came back with this...
