I created this blog when my sweet little girl, Kristen, was diagnosed with cancer, for the third time. After fighting for almost 3 years Kristen was called home to that same God who gave her life. One of my favorite quotes comes from Neal A. Maxwell- "Those who "plow in hope" not only understand the law of the harvest but they also understand what growing seasons are all about. True, those with genuine hope may see their proximate circumstances shaken like a kaleidoscope at times, yet with the "Eye of faith" they still see divine design." Kristen blessed lives and continues to do so. Her light continues to shine. As for me, I continue to "plow in hope" knowing well that Kristen is mine for eternity. Families can be together forever!

birthday boy

Happy Birthday Rich!
We gathered together and partied again tonight.
I guess you could say we're a partying bunch.
We are blessed to have such a wonderful
husband, father and grandfather.

Enjoy the moments for one day they will
become your memories.

more summer

I can hardly believe how fast time time is flying.
We are trying to make the most of every day, we have been loving
the warm days and the cool nights.
I made this blog private for a while and my mom was not happy.
She said she loves seeing Kristen's smiling face.
I guess I'll open it up again for a while until I can figure out how to add my mom.
I have a few personal reasons for wanting to make this a private blog.
I do realize that Kristen has been and continues to be an inspiration for many,
so I'll give it a little more thought.
Until then, here are a few pictures from the past few days.

Kim and I each got a new bundt pan at the last Dillard's sale so we decided to
have a bundt bake off. Mine is on the left and is a cinnamon roll cake.
Kim's is on the right and is lemon poppy.
Kim actually won as mine was a little over done.
We are going to try more recipes next week.

We are always excited to attend the air shows at Hill Air Force Base.
It didn't disappoint!
It is always a thrill.

Happy Summer!

Happy Father's Day

I woke up early and headed straight to the cemetery.
I had this cute little mug for my dad.

We miss my dad.
We take great comfort in knowing that not only while here on earth,
but now in heaven, these two are together watching over us.

Kristen and her dad just a month before she passed away.

Happy Father's Day

school is out! and some alligator jaws

We love summer.
sit in the sun * eat snow cones * stay up late and watch movies
Those are just a few things to get us started.
Kim's birthday was last week.
She only had one request...
Alligator Jaws!
I worked in a bakery for almost 10 years.
One of my favorite treats was alligator jaws.
I made some a few years ago and ever since
Kim has been asking when I
was going to make more. When its your birthday,
you can pretty much have any treat you want.

I started with some fresh chocolate bars.
I cut them into triangles.

Then I sliced up some cherries

and whipped up some cream

There you have it...
fresh delicious alligator jaws!

Later in the evening Kate set up the big screen in her back yard.
Friends were invited and treats were set out.

Lying on the grass listening to the birds
and watching the clouds float by can only mean one thing...
Summer is coming!
