I created this blog when my sweet little girl, Kristen, was diagnosed with cancer, for the third time. After fighting for almost 3 years Kristen was called home to that same God who gave her life. One of my favorite quotes comes from Neal A. Maxwell- "Those who "plow in hope" not only understand the law of the harvest but they also understand what growing seasons are all about. True, those with genuine hope may see their proximate circumstances shaken like a kaleidoscope at times, yet with the "Eye of faith" they still see divine design." Kristen blessed lives and continues to do so. Her light continues to shine. As for me, I continue to "plow in hope" knowing well that Kristen is mine for eternity. Families can be together forever!

the abundant life

In a message given by President Monson he said that a life
filled with an abundance of success, goodness and blessings
is indeed the abundant life. He also mentioned that to obtain the
abundant life one must do three things.

Have a positive attitude.
Believe in yourself.
Face challenges with courage.

I'm not really big on resolutions, however, I have decided to
try a little harder to live the abundant life.
I have been blessed so much and feel that our family has been blessed
with an abundance of so much.
We need to give more and try harder to be better.

One thing I have learned over the past few years is this,
We can't control or direct the wind but we can adjust our sails.

I feel I know just how Albet Campus felt when he said,
"In the depths of winter, I finally learned that within me
there lay an invincible summer."

"The abundant life isn't something we arrive at.
Rather it is a magnificent journey that began long, long ago and will
never, never end... The abundant life is within our reach
if we will only drink deeply of living water,
fill our hearts with love, and create our lives a masterpiece."
~Jeseph B. Whirlin

I believe Kristen lived the abundant life.
She loved life.
She was happy.
She loved and enjoyed the simple things in life.
Her life was full of success, goodness and blessings.
She had a positive attitude.
She believed in herself.
She faced challenges with courage.
She drank of the living water.
Her heart was filled with love.
Her life was and continues to be a masterpiece.

Someday I hope to be like her.

Our family continues to enjoy life.
Here Jordan in teaching Richard and his new little brother
the songs from the movie "Frozen."
It was hilarious to watch him try to get Rich to say the right words.
Rich is supposed to practice and Jordan will be back today to see
if he has learned them yet.

What do little girls do when mom is feeding the new baby?
Play in Mommy's lipstick, of course.

My mom gave all of us girls Ann Romney's new cookbook
for Christmas.
The girls have all made Mitt's meatloaf and loved it.
They did say that they would rather have plain ketchup on top
rather than the sauce that she makes.
I tried this banana cake recipe.
It was really good and moist.
I'm sure I'll make it again as everyone loved it.

I found these pictures of Richards grandparents.
It looks to me like they were living the abundant life.
I love that Audry was such a classy lady
and that she also went pheasant hunting with her husband.
Those were the days!

One more thing...
This boy just had his 3rd surgery in 7 months.
He is home with me, recovering.
The doctor said,
"He'll be a new man!"
I sure hope so as it has been a long 7 months.

...I am come that they might have life,
and they they might have it more abundantly.

Number 9

This cold and snowy January night
our 9th grandchild was born.
He is precious.
We feel blessed.
