I created this blog when my sweet little girl, Kristen, was diagnosed with cancer, for the third time. After fighting for almost 3 years Kristen was called home to that same God who gave her life. I've contemplated on many occasions rather I should quit this blog or not. Each time I am inspired that I should not. One of my favorite quotes comes from Neal A. Maxwell- "Those who "plow in hope" not only understand the law of the harvest but they also understand what growing seasons are all about. True, those with genuine hope may see their proximate circumstances shaken like a kaleidoscope at times, yet with the "Eye of faith" they still see divine design." Kristen blessed lives and continues to do so. Her light continues to shine. As for me, I continue to "plow in hope" knowing well that Kristen is mine for eternity. Families can be together forever! This I know. Our family continues to live and to love and this is our story...

3 years

When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and
you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that
which has been your delight.
~Kahlil Gibran

To live in hearts we leave behind Is not to die.
 ~Thomas Campbell, "Hallowed Ground"

A paragraph from her obituary 3 years ago...

Kristen loved life. Her favorite place in the world was home. Many days you could find her dancing and singing throughout the house. She loved to watch the Disney channel and to organizer her things. Kristen loved family vacations, camping and spending the night in a hotel. Kristen was a shining star in the lives of many. In her short 24 years she instilled upon many the gift of perspective, the lessons of fragility and taught all the true meaning of life and what was important.
Kristen was beautiful she was meek and she represents
everything that is good in the world.

Because of Kristen
we live better, laugh more and love bigger.
We love and miss our angel girl.

the good old summer time

Summer is moving along too fast. I can hardly believe that July is almost half over.
We are enjoying every minute of summer.
July brings a lot of mixed feeling to our family.
It seems every time I close my eyes I whisper her name.
Tonight I am really missing her laugh.
Every night I turn off her lamp and give her Pooh bear a hug.
The tree in her room burns brightly through the night.
In the morning I'll turn her lamp on, just as she always did.
My angel, my child,
you're always on my mind.

A trip to the zoo with the kiddies...
the lego polar bear

Yes, that is Ryan! He is home for about 8 weeks as he is having surgery next week.
Updates are on his blog.

Let us relish life as we live it, find joy in the journey, and share our love with friends and family.

That's what Kristen did.

A thought for Monday

Consider the Lilies

Consider the lilies of the field,
How they grow, how they grow.
Consider the birds in the sky,
How they fly, how they fly.

He clothes the lilies of the field.
He feeds the birds in the sky.
And He will feed those who trust Him,
And guide them with His eye.

Consider the sheep of His fold,
How they follow where He leads.
Though the path may wind across the mountains,
He knows the meadows where they feed.

He clothes the lilies of the field.
He feeds the birds in the sky,
And He will feed those who trust Him,
And guide them with His eye.

Consider the sweet, tender children
Who must suffer on this earth.
The pains of all of them He carried
From the day of His birth.

He clothes the lilies of the field,
He feeds the lambs in His fold,
And He will heal those who trust Him,
And make their hearts as gold.

He clothes the lilies of the field,
He feeds the lambs in His fold,
And He will heal those who trust Him,
And make their hearts as gold.
