I created this blog when my sweet little girl, Kristen, was diagnosed with cancer, for the third time. After fighting for almost 3 years Kristen was called home to that same God who gave her life. I've contemplated on many occasions rather I should quit this blog or not. Each time I am inspired that I should not. One of my favorite quotes comes from Neal A. Maxwell- "Those who "plow in hope" not only understand the law of the harvest but they also understand what growing seasons are all about. True, those with genuine hope may see their proximate circumstances shaken like a kaleidoscope at times, yet with the "Eye of faith" they still see divine design." Kristen blessed lives and continues to do so. Her light continues to shine. As for me, I continue to "plow in hope" knowing well that Kristen is mine for eternity. Families can be together forever! This I know. Our family continues to live and to love and this is our story...

saying goodbye

Yesterday my youngest son left for a 2 year mission with our church. It was hard to say goodbye, but I know he is doing the right thing. I started a blog for him at elderkirtoninarizona.blogspot.com
He will be able to e-mail me once a week and write letters more often if he has time. I will be posting his experiences on his blog. I started his blog mostly because when he returns home in 2 years I can have his blog printed into a book. That is one thing I love about Kristen's blog. I love to turn it into a book every couple of years. I treasure her books.

Kristen's blog will continue to be filled with
family events,
stories about Kristen,
stories about cancer patients,
prayer requests,
stories about orphans,
and all the good that is going on in the world to honor and remember Kristen.
Donations and gifts are being made throughout the year and donated
to the children at Primary Children's Medical Center.
Blankets, pillowcases, activity and parent bags are being made and delivered
to sick children everywhere. If you know someone who could use some of
please email with their info.

Pillowcases are continually being made and distributed around the county
and even some world wide in remembrance of Kristen .
These pillowcases bring smiles, warmth and comfort to cancer patients
and others.
is continuing their efforts in the sewing of pillowcases as they contribute to
Their pillowcases are sewn in Sarah's Sewcial Lounge.
These pillowcases are delivered with this enclosed card...

Kristen continues to be a positive influence in the lives of many.
Her light continues to shine.

just had to share

This is totally me. I know everyone else is thinking it but it is always me who
has to say it.  I can't tell you how many times I have been in trouble for
this very thing. One of these days I just might learn my lesson,
but probably not.

We had another great day today. Each and every Sunday I make dinner
for all 20 of us. Today my mom and Richard's parents also came over.
The little girls went missing for a minute. I found them both in Kristen's room.
They LOVE her room. Today they were looking through all of her many
cards. They also love her games, snow globes and dolls.

Today was another great day filled with family and fun.

Busy Sunday

Yesterday was a big day. Besides Nora's blessing, Ryan also talked in church. In our religion before missionaries leave they give a '"farewell" talk. Ryan was awesome in fact his talk was outstanding. It's hard to believe he is leaving in just 9 days. Oh how I am going to miss him.

After church we had bagels and donuts at our house. Every time I turned around one of the kids was taking another bite of a donut. I think on last count Jordan had 6.

I think Katy may have been counting how many donuts Cody had eaten.

Katy must have been cold as I soon found her wrapped in Kristen's blanket. All of Kristen's things are so precious to all of us.

It was a GREAT day. I feel so blessed to have such amazing people
in my life. Thank you to all who supported us yesterday.
Thank you Ryan and Nora for blessing our lives.
We love you!

I've started a blog for Ryan so I could keep track of his experiences and
pictures. I decided on a blog because when he comes home I can print it
into a book for him. That is one of my most favorite part of Kristen's
blog, the fact that I can make it into a book.
It is the best journal ever.
If you are interested in following Ryan's blog, let me
know and I'll give you the web address.

It has been a very busy few weeks.
Whoever said things slow down after the holidays was wrong.

Today marks 30 months since Kristen went to heaven.
It seems like forever ago that I heard her
sweet voice or held her in my arms.
Whoever said that things would get easier
after time passes was also wrong.

Kim brought  Nora in for a while last night.
She was dressed in her Minnie Mouse outfit.
Kamie thought she needed a special treat to go with her special outfit.
I think she was right.

Today Nora received a blessing at church.
She was darling in her special dress.
I love her red hair!
She is the sweetest baby.

I am so thankful that I have been blessed with such
amazing children and grandchildren.
They help me more than they could ever know.
Because of them life is good.
Actually, it's grand.

A thought for today...

“The trick is to enjoy life.

Don't wish away your days,

waiting for better ones ahead.

The grand and the simple.

They are equally wonderful.”

Finally some blue sky

The inversion her has been awful. I didn't realize how bad it was here in
the valley until I went to the Huntsman Cancer Hospital and could see above the inversion.
No wonder everyone is sick and depressed.
January is not my favorite month, probably because it is freezing cold.
Today, a least for a while, the sun is shining and the sky is blue.
I found these pictures of Kristen and the girls,
I just had to post them mostly because Kristen is so cute, but also as a
reminder that the sky really is blue and the grass is green.

dreams do come true

I've never been much of a Justin Bieber fan....
until today!

Our sweet little friend Millie is
battling leukemia, again.
She had a bone marrow transplant this past year.
One week before Christmas she relapsed.
When she was well, her parents bought her
tickets to go to the Justin Bieber concert.
The concert was tonight, and of course she is
still in the hospital. It broke her parents hearts to
have to sell her tickets.
Well, Some people got together and started spreading
Millie's story.

Guess who paid Millie a visit in the hospital

One local channel is reporting that he even
delayed his concert so he could visit Millie.

Thank you Justin Bieber for visiting Sweet little Millie
in the hospital.
Nothing melts my heart more than a smile on the face of a child
fighting cancer.

another angel

I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
Henceforth There is laid up for me a crown of righteousness,
which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day...
 ~2 Timothy 4:7-8

Precious little Hunter past away last night. I know many of my friends and
family sent him cards and gifts. I know he appreciated all of them.
He is no longer in pain.
He has been reunited with his mother.
