I created this blog when my sweet little girl, Kristen, was diagnosed with cancer, for the third time. After fighting for almost 3 years Kristen was called home to that same God who gave her life. I've contemplated on many occasions rather I should quit this blog or not. Each time I am inspired that I should not. One of my favorite quotes comes from Neal A. Maxwell- "Those who "plow in hope" not only understand the law of the harvest but they also understand what growing seasons are all about. True, those with genuine hope may see their proximate circumstances shaken like a kaleidoscope at times, yet with the "Eye of faith" they still see divine design." Kristen blessed lives and continues to do so. Her light continues to shine. As for me, I continue to "plow in hope" knowing well that Kristen is mine for eternity. Families can be together forever! This I know. Our family continues to live and to love and this is our story...

a lot can change in a year

Who would have thought...
Last year over the Memorial Day weekend we were at the cemetery
leaving flowers for my dad.
This Memorial weekend Kristen is tucked right
 next to my dad.
Kristen was actually doing quite well a year ago,
or at least it seemed she was.
It had been 3 months since her bone marrow transplant and she was
cruisin right along. You can see in the picture that she is wearing a
backpack. This was to hold her IV pump as she was receiving meds and fluids.
It would only be one week later that we would received the devastating news
that she had once again relapsed.

Last year...

and now this year...

A quick note about her head stone.
First off, the stone had to be flat and bronze.
Second it had to be placed on a piece of marble with
a 4 inch border around the bronze.
I wanted something special for Kristen.
It took me several months to finally decide.
The heart is perfect
She was loved by so many people, a heart is very fitting for her.
I know she would have picked a heart over a rectangle.
"Our Angel"
says it all.

Definition of an angel;
a kind lovable person. one who manifests goodness and purity.
someone who is kind and beautiful. a guardian, a guide.
one who protects.
synonyms; lamb, dove, innocent.
Kristen was and still is all of the above.
I am pretty sure that anyone that stumbles upon her grave site will
know that there lies a sweet little girl who was loved very much.

"If we were all like angels, the world would be a heavenly place."

camp out!

This is Kim and Dave

To say the they like the outdoors would be a huge understatement
as they truly LOVE it. It doesn't matter where they are or what they are doing,
Dave will always find a bike trail, a place to hike or a rock to climb.
Dave is in the National Guard. His unit is set to depart for Iraq
in just 10 days. We thought it would be fun to have one last Hoo-Rah before he left,
so of course we went camping.
Dave's  family has some prime acreage in the mountains of San Pete county.

It truly is a beautiful place. At first I thought I was in heaven, then I realized
that my heart was still aching and a precious little girl was no where is sight.
When I do get to heaven I hope there are mountains.

Katy and her family couldn't make the trip, but the rest of our family
was there. We could probably do an advertisement for Ford.

We went 4-wheeling, did lots of target practice, went rappelling,
and we had a mean game of Frisbee.

Kim came down first

Then it was TJ's turn

next came Ryan

  and finally Dave

Poor little Sara...
Yes, that really is a big ol cow pie and yes she did fall right into it,
hands and knees.

Those of you who know Kamie, know that she will always pull
something out of her hat that will make us all laugh.
Not sure where she found this old sleigh or how she talked
Kim into giving her a ride.

We had a great weekend full of fun and laughs.
As we were driving home I noticed that all the fields were full of sheep and
their cute little lambs. The thing I missed the most was the Baa Baa coming
from the back seat. Kristen loved lambs. Whenever she would see one she would start
her Baa Baa Baa's.
So of course I made Rich stop so I could get a picture.

Dave, We'll miss you tons. Be safe.
Don't worry about Kim, we'll take good care of her.
I am not sure I can handle her drama for too long so...

Today as Rich and I were visiting Kristen's grave,
I commented to him in kind of a complaining way that there were
a lot of dandelions around Kristen's grave.
He had a quick reply,
"that's because Kristen liked dandelions."
A smile came to my face as I replied,
"she sure did."
Kristen loved to pick these yellow flowers. She would usually hide them behind her back
and present them to me with a big smile.
There was often a cup on the counter filled with dandelions.
One of her favorite things to do was to pick the dried up
dandelion and blow the seeds into the wind.

Kristen didn't see a weed she saw a beautiful flower.
She knew nothing about the little nuisance that pops up
through the green grass.
She loved the beauty of the yellow flower.
It was plain and simple, just like her.
There are many things that come into our lives that at first we consider a nuisance.
But if we really stop to think about them, often they can become a thing of beauty,
teaching lessons and helping us to grow and mature.
Thanks to Kristen I will never look at a dandelion the same.
Just as in life, if we can stop to see the beauty in every situation
we too can grow and become better people.

Go out today and find yourself a dandelion.
Think of Kristen
and make a wish.
